Q: When can I join?
A: Recruitment dates are set by the Greek Life Office. They are usually held in early September.
Q: Is it expensive?
A: The cost to live-in the house includes a national membership fee, room and board. The cost will be outlined during recruitment and changes each year based on the number of women living-in and the cost of food, utilities, etc. All costs will be given up-front.
Q: Who is the House Manager and what does she do?
A: She is an adult female, who is employed by the House Corporation board. She lives in a small apartment connected to the house and works with the cook and alumni. Her job is not to 'mother' the women but to handle the day-to-day operation of the house and to provide a responsible adult on property. This year's house manager's name is Ellen, please come by and meet her.
Q: How can I contact my daughter once she moves into the house?
A: The house has one main 'land" line and all the women have cell phones. The house is equipted with wireless internet and each women is provided an e-mail address by the University. Parents are welcome to visit at any time.
Q: Can my boyfriend visit?
A: Men are allowed on non-sleeping floors of the house. They are welcome to visit, study and join in activities when invited. Men are not allowed on any sleeping floors and are not allowed to stay the night.
Q: Can I have a job and still be a member?
A: Yes. Most of the current members work both to pay for tuition or spending money.
Q: Is the house located on campus?
A: No. It is about four blocks away and does not require a parking permit. It has a lot for cars and a shed for bikes.
